Echoes of the Real
Chapter 1353 · One Thousand Three Hundred Fifty-Three

The Danger of Translators

Maia, the Weaver, was hesitant. She saw the wisdom in Jester’s plan, but she also saw the danger. A guild of translators would hold immense power. They could choose which stories to translate, which connections to make, which worlds to bring together. They could, in effect, become the new arbiters of meaning, the new gatekeepers of reality. It was a power not unlike that of the Finalizers, albeit wielded with a different intent. ‘How do we ensure they don’t become the new tyrants?’ she asked, her voice a soft echo of the fear that had once gripped the entire Archipelago. ‘How do we ensure that this new guild serves the story, and not the other way around?’
