The Anchorite was the first to register the anomaly. ‘Structural integrity of the null-space is compromised,’ it stated, its voice losing a fraction of its composure. ‘Probability of spontaneous narrative incursion is increasing exponentially.’ Kaelen’s smug satisfaction evaporated, replaced by a flicker of disbelief. ‘That’s not possible,’ he whispered, more to himself than to his companion. ‘She doesn’t know we’re here.’ But the evidence was undeniable.
