Echoes of the Real
Chapter 1480 · One Thousand Four Hundred Eighty

An Unknown Continent

An invitation. The word echoed in the silent chambers of her heart, a place that had known only the cadence of sorrow for so long. For a fleeting moment, a spark of the old Elara, the Cartographer of Echoes, ignited within her. The thrill of a new story, an unknown continent of narrative to explore, called to her. But the Author of Sorrow was not so easily swayed. The wildflower of hope, so beautiful and defiant, was also a reminder of her deepest pain, a story she had tried so desperately to un-write. To accept their invitation was to accept the possibility of that pain again, to open herself up to a story she could not control. And that, she decided, was a risk she was not yet willing to take. With a single, brutal act of will, she reached into her narrative and crushed the wildflower, turning its vibrant petals to dust. The invitation was rejected. The war for control of the story would continue.
