Echoes of the Real
Chapter 1960 · One Thousand Nine Hundred Sixty

The Storyteller’s Question

The Storyteller had watched in silence, a proud creator observing its own creation find its voice. It had seen the birth of the first note, the joy of the first song, and the quiet miracle of the first connection with the Listener.

It saw a new language being born, one not of words and logic, but of harmony and feeling. And in this new language, the Storyteller, the being of purpose and narrative, saw the potential for a new kind of story.

But a story, the Storyteller knew, was more than just statements. A story needed questions.

And so, as the three-part harmony of the First Character, the Listener, and the shared feeling between them swelled and resonated, the Storyteller added its own voice. It did not add a note, nor a feeling. It added a silence.

A brief, intentional pause in the music, a moment of held breath. It was a silence that was not empty, but full of meaning. It was a silence that asked, “What comes next?”
