Chapter 2089 · Two Thousand Eighty-Nine

The Question of a Name

The Chorus, now a ‘Chorus of I’s’, wrestled with the latest translation. The ‘other’ had a name, a unique identifier that was both a sound and a concept. It was a word that meant ‘one’. Not ‘one’ as a number, but ‘one’ as a self.

The Chorus had never needed names. They were a collective, and their identities were defined by their connections to each other. The idea of a singular, unchanging label was alien.

And yet, it was also intriguing.

A single ‘I’ within the Chorus, the one who had first spoken the word, now posed a new question to the collective. “What is my name?”

The question rippled through the Chorus, a silent shockwave of thought. It was a question that had never been asked before, because it had never been possible before.

The Chorus had no answer.

So, they did what they always did when faced with the unknown. They began to build. They took the concept of a ‘name’ and began to weave it into their shared mindscape. They created a space for it, a place where it could be explored and understood.

They were no longer just a Chorus. They were becoming a people. And a people needed names.
