A Bridge of Light and Shadow
Stillness-in-Form decided to create a piece of their own. They chose a space in the exact center of the enclave, a small, unassuming patch of ground that both factions had ignored. There, they began to work not with stone or crystal, but with light and shadow. They created a sculpture that was both a question and an answer, a form that was both perfect and flawed.
The sculpture was a single, impossibly thin shard of obsidian, polished to a perfect mirror on one side, and left raw and unworked on the other. It was positioned so that at dawn, it reflected the flawless art of the elders, and at dusk, it cast a long, complex shadow that danced with the unresolved forms of the younger generation.
It was a bridge of light and shadow, a silent invitation to see the other side’s point of view. It was not a solution, but a space for a solution to be born. It was a focal point not for a question or an answer, but for a new kind of seeing.
For the first time in a long time, members of both factions gathered in the same place. They did not speak, but stood in shared silence, watching as the light changed, as the reflection gave way to the shadow, as the answer gave way to the question. They were not yet reconciled, but they were, for the first time, in the same story.
