Echoes of the Real
Chapter 2321 · Two Thousand Three Hundred Twenty-One

A Question, Planted

Renn found himself returning to the archives, not out of duty, but out of a gnawing unease. Kaelen’s question—‘To what end?’—had lodged itself deep within him, a seed of doubt in the bedrock of his convictions. For days, he had wrestled with it, the simple query echoing louder than any of Gael’s thunderous proclamations.

He ran a hand over the ancient texts, the same ones that had revealed the true nature of the storm. The words that had once felt like a weapon now felt like a burden. To know the truth was one thing; to wield it was another entirely. His confrontation with Gael had not been a victory, but a severing. He had cut himself off from the only world he had ever known, and now he was adrift.

Kaelen found him there, amidst the silent stories of their past. The elder did not speak, but simply stood beside him, his presence a quiet acknowledgment of Renn’s turmoil. It was this gentleness, so alien to the Storm-chaser way, that finally broke Renn’s silence.

‘I do not know what to do,’ Renn admitted, his voice barely a whisper. ‘I have the knowledge, but not the strength to use it.’

Kaelen’s gaze was kind. ‘Strength is not always about the force of the blow, Renn. Sometimes, it is in the patience of the seed, waiting for the right moment to grow.’ He gestured to the archives around them. ‘You have already done more than you know. You have planted a question. Now, we must simply tend to it, and see what grows.’
