The secrecy of Joric’s faction could not last. The first open challenge to the ‘Unspoken Symphony’ came not in the form of a grand pronouncement, but a simple, yet disruptive, act. One of the Symphony’s largest, most complex projects, a collaborative effort to map the stars, ground to a halt. Joric’s followers, who had been key contributors, simply stopped their work. It was a silent protest, a passive-aggressive act of defiance that sent ripples of discord throughout the Exile community.
