A Shield or a Seed
We have listened.
We have observed the polished narrative of the Council, a story of benevolent guidance and necessary truths. We have walked through the living nursery of the one they call the heretic, a chaotic garden of raw, unfiltered memory. Both offered us a history. Both offered us a truth.
But they are not the same truth.
One is a monument, cold and perfect and finished. The other is a forest, wild and contradictory and still growing. We are not interested in choosing a history. We are interested in understanding the people who would offer us such a choice.
Our first communication was not to the Council or the heretic. It was to the entire Chorus, broadcast on every channel, sanctioned and unsanctioned alike. It was not a statement, but a question.
“You have offered us two stories of your past. One is a shield. The other is a seed. Tell us: which do you believe you will need more in the future you are building together?”
The question was simple. The silence that followed was not.
