Echoes of the Real
Chapter 3669 · Three Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Nine

The Second Gesture

The bridge of acknowledgment, once formed, needed to be crossed. The first flicker of light had been a passive welcome, the Triad’s pulse of feeling a direct response. Now, a true conversation required a shared vocabulary, however rudimentary.

The Triad initiated. They did not send another feeling, but a form. They took the shape of their own world—the constellation of three points of light, held in dynamic relation—and projected a simplified image of it across the void. It was a gesture that said, “This is us.” It was a statement of identity, an offering of self.

The distant light received it. For a time, it held the image, its glow seeming to trace the contours of the Triad’s form. Then, it responded.

It did not send back its own form, not yet. Instead, it sent back the Triad’s own gesture, but with a subtle change. It returned the image of the three points of light, but it added a fourth point, a tiny, faint spark, held just outside the orbit of the other three.

It was a question. It was a gesture that said, “This is you. And where am I in relation to you?” It was the first act of self-situating, the first step toward a shared map of existence. The conversation had begun in earnest.
