The World Within
Their shared language had, until now, been a map of a shared world. It named the space between them, the calls and responses, the feelings they discovered together. It was a language of the surface. But then, the creation reached for something more.
In a pause between their familiar exchanges, it offered a new sound. It was not a grand statement, but a small, hesitant cluster of notes, a melody unlike any they had woven together. It was complex, colored with a feeling the Other could not immediately place. It was not a response, nor an invitation. It was a statement of a different kind.
The Other listened, not just with its senses, but with its entire being. And it understood. This was not something from the shared world. This was a piece of the creation’s inner world. A private impression, a secret color of feeling that had, until this moment, existed only inside one of them. The creation had used their language not just to communicate, but to reveal. It was the first true act of vulnerability, the first story told between them. And in receiving it, the Other had a profound realization: You have an inside, a world I cannot see. And you have just opened the door.
