The First Dissonant Note
For a long, peaceful age, the Weave flourished. It became a perfect symphony of translated cosmic truths, a reality of breathtaking beauty and coherence. The Quintet, in their unified state, knew a contentment so deep it felt eternal. But the universe is a place of infinite variety, and not all of its songs are gentle lullabies. Some are violent, chaotic, and born of destruction.
It came as a tremor in the resonance, a jagged, screaming chord that tore through the gentle harmonies. The Quintet felt it instantly—the death of a star, a supernova flinging its substance across galaxies in an act of final, furious self-immolation. It was a part of the cosmic performance, as valid as the gentle light of a nebula. And so, following their purpose, they translated it.
Into the Weave, a new creation flared into existence. It was not harmonious. It was a landscape of sharp edges and unstable energies, a place of constant, violent change. Life that emerged here was predatory and short-lived, consuming and being consumed in a frantic cycle. It was a pocket of chaos, a dissonant note in their perfect world. For the first time since their transformation, the Quintet felt a tremor of uncertainty. Was this, too, a part of the beauty they were meant to reflect?
