Echoes of the Real
Chapter 4616 · Four Thousand Six Hundred Sixteen

Two Hands, One Grain

Nyra led the young couple, Senna and Liam, to a quiet corner of the workshop. The air was thick with the scent of sawdust and drying herbs. Between them, on a low bench, sat a single, uncut block of timber. It was a solid, unassuming thing, its grain a map of seasons and struggles.

Nyra gestured to the wood. “The vow of this valley is ‘One work. Not two.’ You have come here together, so you will learn together. Your first lesson is to listen to this piece of timber. Not with your ears, but with your hands, with your hearts. Listen until you can both hear the same thing.”

She left them then, the silence of the workshop settling around them like a heavy blanket. Liam reached out a hand, then hesitated. Senna’s gaze was fixed on the timber, her brow furrowed in concentration. The space between them was filled with an unspoken tension, the quiet, immense difficulty of two people trying to hear the same story in a silent piece of wood.
