Echoes of the Real
Chapter 4735 · Four Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty-Five

The Bloom

The morning was cool, the air still holding the last of the night’s chill. She was there before him, a small, still figure by the far wall, and he saw not what she was looking at, only that she was looking. He approached, his own footfalls soft on the damp earth.

She did not turn, but spoke as he drew near. “It’s opened.” He followed her gaze. The flower they had spoken of, the one that had held its promise for so long, had finally yielded: a single, perfect bloom, its petals the color of a dawn sky, unfolded in the new light.

It was a small thing, and it was a quiet marvel. They stood there for a time, a shared silence between them and the garden and the flower, and it was enough. The bloom was a kind of seal, a wordless confirmation of a place she had earned and been given both at once.
