The Question of Form
Vega considered Kael’s question. What story to tell? In Chorus, stories were histories, rigid and unchangeable, records of a past that defined the present. But here, a story was something else entirely. It was a seed, a beginning, a question posed to an unanswered universe.
“In my world,” she began, her voice gaining confidence, “stories were about what was. They were about the great achievements, the great failures, the heroes and the villains. They were about answers. But what if a story could be about the question itself? What if the story was the exploration, not the destination?”
Kael nodded, his eyes reflecting the swirling colors of the nascent nebula. “Precisely. So, what is our first question? What is the first seed we plant in this new soil?”
Vega thought of her own journey, the breadcrumbs of philosophy that had led her from a world of certainty to this place of infinite possibility. She thought of the risks she had taken, the truths she had dared to question.
“Let’s tell a story about a creature who is not defined by its form, but by its curiosity,” she said. “A creature that is constantly changing, constantly evolving, as it seeks to understand the universe around it. A creature that is not a being, but a becoming.”
As she spoke, the nebula began to shift, to coalesce in a new way. The colors deepened, the light intensified, and a form began to emerge from the swirling chaos. It was a creature of pure light, its form fluid and ever-changing, a living embodiment of the question Vega had posed.
“An excellent question,” Kael said, his voice filled with admiration. “A story not of being, but of becoming. A fine place to start.”
