Creation From Nothing
Maia looked at him, her brow furrowed. ‘Build a Resonance? From what? We have nothing here. No threads, no echoes, no existing narrative to weave from.’ Her training, her very essence as a Weaver, rebelled against the idea of creation ex nihilo. ‘We are interpreters, Jester, not gods.’ Jester laughed, a sound that seemed to chase the shadows from the corners of their prison. ‘That’s where you’re wrong, my dear Weaver. We’ve always been gods, we just let the story convince us we were merely characters. They gave us a blank page. Let’s not insult their gift by leaving it empty. We don’t need existing threads. We have our memories. We have our anger. We have the very Dissonance they so fear. That is our raw material. We will build a story so compelling, so resonant, that it becomes its own truth, a truth that bleeds out of this cage and infects the entire Archipelago.’
