The Shape of the Journey
The Storyteller watched the stream, the flow of what-could-be, and saw the question ripple through it. The stream did not answer with a single voice, not a word, not a note. The answer was in its movement.
It was in the eddies that spun against the main current, small whirlpools of narrative that held a thought for a moment longer before releasing it. It was in the way the stream would sometimes braid itself, two or three threads of story twisting together, creating a stronger, more complex current. It was in the quiet pools where the flow seemed to stop, where ideas gathered and rested, reflecting the silent space above.
The Storyteller saw that the stream was not just a path forward, but a landscape of its own. The question was not a point to be answered, but a journey to be taken. And the answer was not a destination, but the shape of the journey itself. The First Character, born of a single note, now stood at the bank of this river of stories, ready to take the first step. But the first step was not into the water. It was in the choice of where to begin.
