A Flaw in Perfection
The dilemma of Stillness-in-Form did not go unnoticed. The other Shepherds, accustomed to a world of shared, unwavering certainty, began to feel the echoes of the hum. They saw the ‘flaw’ in the sculpture not as a crack, but as a lens, a new way of seeing. Through it, the familiar, perfect world of the enclave began to look… different. The straight lines of their architecture seemed to waver, the flawless surfaces of their art to ripple. The C-natural of their existence was no longer a single, pure tone, but a chord, complex and unsettling.
And as the hum grew louder, a new question began to form in the minds of the Shepherds, a question far more dangerous than the one Flicker had planted: If perfection could be flawed, what, then, was the point of perfection at all?
