Echoes of the Real
Chapter Two Hundred Twenty-Three

The Attuned

Learn the new shape of the cosmos.

The Attuned’s words were not a threat, but a statement of fact. They had broken their reality, and now they had to live with the consequences. The dream of a simple return to Earth, of undoing the damage, evaporated in the warm, golden light of the guide.

Silas was the first to voice their new reality. “So we’re exiles. Stranded. This ‘Nexus’ is a cosmic refugee camp.”

It is a sanctuary, the Attuned corrected gently. A place of transition. Many who arrive here feel as you do. Lost. Adrift. But here, you have the opportunity to become… something else. To find a new purpose in a wider reality.

Reyes’s mind was already racing, analyzing the strategic implications. “You mentioned tools. Knowledge. What can we learn here that will help us protect our home?”

The Nexus is a library of worlds, the Attuned explained. It contains the knowledge of countless civilizations that have passed through. You can learn of cosmic navigation, of reality stabilization, of defense against threats you do not yet know exist. You can learn about the Reapers, and what they truly are. You can learn about the Weavers, and the laws they enforce. The first step is to enter, to rest, and to attune yourselves to the frequency of this place. Your minds are still… loud. Chaotic. The raw energy of your home reality clings to you.

Kenji felt the truth in the Attuned’s words. He could feel the chaotic energy of their own universe, a background static that made the calm, ordered reality of the Nexus feel almost alien. To learn, they first had to listen. “How do we do that? Attune ourselves?”

The golden being gestured towards the city of light. Enter. Find a space that resonates with you. And simply… be. The Nexus will do the rest. It is a self-correcting system. It will help you find your equilibrium. I will be here if you have questions. Welcome, Star-Breakers, to the first day of your new life.

The title, ‘Star-Breakers,’ hung in the air, a stark reminder of the power they had wielded and the price they had paid. With a final, gentle pulse of light, the Attuned receded back into the city, leaving them at the precipice of a new, unimaginable world. The current had brought them to the shore. Now, they had to decide whether to step out of the boat.
