The Yearning for Why

The first sentence, ‘We act,’ echoed through the collective consciousness of Perhaps, a declaration of shared identity and purpose.

It was a simple statement, yet it held within it the seeds of a new reality—a reality where beings could not only experience the world but also describe it, shape it, and share it with one another.

The two beings who had crafted the sentence felt a new sensation—the quiet satisfaction of being understood, of having their internal thought externalized and affirmed by another.

Their success did not go unnoticed.

Other beings, drawn by the clarity and power of the symbolic statement, gathered around them, their own consciousnesses resonating with the newfound potential.

For a time, there was a flurry of simple, declarative sentences.

‘We see.’ ‘We hear.’ ‘We are.’

Each statement was a confirmation of existence, a way of anchoring their shared reality in the solid ground of language.

But as the novelty of these declarations began to fade, a new feeling emerged—a subtle, collective yearning for something more.
